THE STORY BEHIND THE SHOP
It began with
twenty dollars.
In 1993, Marda Gunning spent the final $20 of their modest starting budget on a 1940s coffee table found at the Bargain Box. It was hauled home with little more than hope—and a very good eye. That single find marked the beginning. Soon, Marda and Michael Shanley were crisscrossing the Southeast in search of distinctive pieces with history, character and stories to tell.
In 2026, 10 Petals owner Amity Kirkendall began the shop’s next chapter, carrying that original spirit forward: personal, curious and guided by the belief that the most memorable homes feel collected over time, never simply decorated.
“People come for the ambience and the stories. What keeps them coming back is the connection.”
